After the introduction in Milan, the EPIC family will be on show during Design District - Zaandam. EPIC is the result of an intensive cooperation between Marc and the Belgium furniture brand Z-editions. Marc is the first Dutch designer to join the team, for that reason Design District is the perfect event to present the models to the Dutch market.
Distinctive back
The EPIC’s back splits the frame in two and gives the model its distinctive look. The round and lascivious shape of the back and seat make it a modern, allround chair for everyday use. The collection comes in oak and can be partly upholstered (seat) or painted in color, offering a world of possibilities at home or in public spaces.
You will find Z-editions at Stand S22 | S23 - Visit www.designdistrict.nl for all the details

All EPIC models are available in the 3D Warehouse (Sketchup)
Titled "Masterly - The Dutch in Milano" designers, producers and design agencies presented themselves in the center of Milan during the Salone del Mobile 2016.
The first edition of the Dutch pavilion was a huge success. Masterly was one of the must-sees. During this unique event I introduced the EPIC family, a series of three chairs I developed together with the Belgian brand Z-editions.
Also the Slide mirror I developed with DeKnudt mirrors, and the Hole chair for Spoinq where on show. - www.masterly.nu
After Maison et Objet, Spoinq presented their collection during the Stockholm Furniture Fair. The HOLE chair got introduced to the Scandinavian design fans! I got on the plane and visited them. For me it was a great opportunity to meet new brands and pick up new trends...
This coming edition of Maison & Objet - Paris the Dutch brand Spoinq will launch the HOLE chair. After months of testing, shaping and waiting I'm happy to show you the result of our teamwork.
A surprise is one of the key elements that make people stop, turn their head and have a closer look. The legs of the HOLE chair have this effect on people. As a designer I like to team up with committed brands and manufactures to created outstanding interior products to be enjoyed. I think the HOLE chair is a surprising new chair that is comfortable and looks great too.

A lot of people have a plane and simple shade above there table. I wanted to add something fun to that modest shade. That's when the bird landed on the edge.
The thought was simple, making it work wasn't easy at all. Balance is key in this design. When you put weight on one end you have to compensate for it elsewhere. The steel plate with the logo is not only 'branding', but is also the counterweight that keeps the lamp balanced.
On regular base I share my experiences on Instagram #enjoyables. Tune in on: www.instagram.com/marc.th.vandervoorn
Together with Odesi I shot a short video on how my designs come to life.
During a visit at my studio we talked about my work method, inspiration and our collaboration. A team effort is needed to create a remarkable product that stands out.
The video is part of a serie. Odesi introduces all there designers in a monthly sequence.

It's all in the details... The Spoinq logo is added to one of the legs of the Swan dining table. I love small details. Be aware of copycats, always look and ask for the logo! - www.spoinq.nl
I was asked to design an accessory matching the Branch dining table. I came up with the LEAF tray, a fruit bowl with a twist. The groove guides the fruit towards the center of the bowl. Just like a real leaf, the wood grains symbolize the grains of a leaf. Together with a local craftsman I produced the first series. The LEAF has a diameter of 45 cm and is 6 cm high. It is made from solid Oak with an oil finish.
Journalist Cor-Peter Pasma asked me how my designs find their way to the customer nowadays. I told him that you'll find links on my website to the brands I work with, and to shops who sell my work. Or my email address for products I produce and sell by myself. Open the PDF through this link.

VT Wonen stylist Marianne Luning did a great job, transforming the interior of Simone and Steven 19 century family house in Oudewater to a mix they both like. Simone has a romantic touch while Steven loves heavily built furniture. Two extremes that are hard to bring together in one home.
My Twister dining table with its Oak tabletop and graceful steel legs was a sublime choice. Together with the Square chairs by Ruud-Jan Kokke, it looks industrial and elegant.
Episode 8 VT Wonen - SBS6 - April 5 2015.
Both Twister and Square are part of the Spoinq family.
The MIST watch is a wish come true. The dots grid I used for the clock series Mist & Dots is transformed to a watch. Again the print is on the glass, so the clock hands are behind the artwork. Brand: NeXtime
